We are HCA Magic 5.4.1. If you are going to implement ePOM, be aware
that label comments are NOT available for editing by the ePOM Physician
- they are "view only". So any comments that are entered there
(including prn reasons) that may be subject to change will NOT be
editable and may lead to "order confusion" should the MD add a prn
reason (or other instructions) on the ePOM side, but not be able to
change the label comments.

Perhaps this has been resolved in a later release of Meditech...

Subject: FW: [MEDITECH-L] POM PRN Reasons

I planned to use PRN reasons with eMAR and even built the dictionary,
but now am hesitating. We are Magic 5.5 and when the nurses scroll
through the meds on the eMAR, the PRN reason seems very difficult to
spot. The label comments (where we have traditionally entered prn
reasons) do display quite prominently though so I guess we will stick
with this practice. Am I missing something - I would love to hear the
experiences of others regarding what works best for the nurses. We will
be soon be seeing 5.6 and I hope this will make the decision easier.

Tara,
We do not require our physicians to put in PRN reasons. As a matter of
fact, we never even built the PRN reason dictionary.

Hi All,
I am being told that a PRN reason is required for all PRN meds.
1. If you are live with POM, are you making your physicians put in PRN
reasons?
2. Can you share your PRN reason dictionary with me?

Thanks
