Has anyone out their successfully imported patient instructions from another vendor into Meditech's EDM? We've purchased a product for patient discharge instructions from Exit Care. I've written a script which copies and pastes each entry into the EDM Patient instruction dictionary. It works great. However, I ran into one problem. The name field is limited to 30 characters. So, if any of the files in Exit Care have names longer than 30 characters, it only reads the first 30. Then, if there happened to be 2 files with the same first 30 characters, the second file would overwrite the first as the system would think it was the same file. Of course, I can manually go through and rename all of the files prior to importing into Meditech. But that would be a lot of manual work being that there are some 2000 files. Has anyone else tries something like this? Is there any easier way?
