Hi Shirley,
We're C/S 5.5 SR2 and use the OR Module. We have the Surgery Staff use
the Modules link from the Surgical Profile to go to OE and enter an order
there (even for No Specimens - LAB tracks these as well). We do generate
specimen labels through a query ("Specimen collected in Care Area" Y/N)
that are affixed to the specimen.

barcode
label would be generated and put on the specimen. When it got to the lab,
the lab would "receive" it similar to how we receive clinical specimens.
What I would like you to do for us is to ask the Meditech List Serve to
find out how other labs are tracking surgery to lab specimens. Any help
you could give us would be really appreciated.
