Thanks Jeff!
We are indeed FDB!
You indicated:
"FirstDataBank now has new data files that don't include the
piggybacks, a problem when mapping allergies. In the past, during the conversion D5 allergies would pop up on the patients since the premixes have them as a component."

It sounds like Charlie Downs is experiencing the latter part of your statement which brings me to the former. It seems the problem lies with FDB? Why don't their files include piggbacks! Did they give you some sort of timeframe here?
You also indicated:
"It will take a lot of time to set up the allergy mapping for the conversion."
Aren't the allergy mappings done automatically by the CFS that maps according to the following 3 criteria?
1.
allergy name or mnemonic
2. allergy synonyms
3. links
Isn't the Process Allergy Mapping Table simply where one reviews the automatic mappings? Or is this where one resolves allergies for existing patients not converted for one reason or another?
Thank-you!
2006/9/27, Thompson, Jeff <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
We are in the middle of implementing. Here are some lessons I have
learned.
1) Make sure you talk to Charlie Downs, at Washington Regional, out
East, he has a lot of pointers and learnings and thoughts. (Search the
archives!)
2) If you are FirstDataBank, then you can proceed. If not, then you
must have already converted to FirstDataBank using the old allergy
model. You can't do both at once.
3) MicroMedex will be available to use the 1B model next and then
Medispan in 5.6. (If this hasn't changed!)
3) FirstDataBank now has new data files that don't include the
piggybacks, a problem when mapping allergies. In the past, during the
conversion D5 allergies would pop up on the patients since the premixes
have them as a component.
4) It will take a lot of time to set up the allergy mapping for the
conversion.
