Hi Frances,

One item is missing from your request: what MT platform you are using
and at what version.

In 2001, I have implemented AGFA_MITRA PACS suite with Magic Radiology
with no Image launch as requested by the providers.

In 2003, I have implemented GE-PACS suite with Mixed platform using ITS
for radiology. With image launch from PCI. Advantage of image from MT
Pci is that you can choose to have image for that patient or order and
again you can view it with Reports from any pc on your network or from
anywhere via VPN or Citrix. Providers love this flexibility.

GE PACS works well with DICTAPHONE-POWERSCRIBE as Voice recognition
reporting tool.
Again I have implemented-integrated POWERSCRIBE reporting tool with
MEDITECH.

This will again open up doors to web launch and using product like
Clinical Connect etc. MEDITECH provides the interface suite based on
your requirement and platform.

If you have any questions, do let me know.

Thank you.

Regards,

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] PACS Questions

We are just startng to evaluate PACS systems and how we feel our
facility could best benefit by this technology. One of our first
questions centered around whether or not most facilities go with the
Meditech PACs Integration Suite of products making the images available
through PCI (or clinical review) or if viewing occurs through the PACS
system. The question came up about how many physicians would care to
see the image, versus reading the reports. We would want to bring in the
demographic information but question whether or not returning the image
to be viewed through
Meditech would be utilized fully. I would like to know what direction
you
chose to go - and why. Also, what vendor are you using and why? Has
the
product given you the benefits you felt it would - return on investment,
cost savings, improved process flow and so on. Any insight you are
willing to share will be appreciated. As usual, thanks to all for your
responses.
