Just my 2 cents:
Another item we have run across,
for some reason during some of these fixes etc, the med profile "may"
be restored to Meditech,
HOWEVER, there is nothing then that flows to pyxis,
Our staff will just do a limited edit on "each" rx-which avoids having
to re-enter and this
will send the rx to Pyxis.
We still go through the whole profile to make sure nothing "dropped
off" for some reason.

Hi Terri,
We have this problem too and I posted this question to Meditech and
received
the following response.
Hope this answers some of your questions.
Please post any responses to the "L"
Thanks
Diane

Hi Amanda, We have a problem with admissions "fixing" or "accidently"
discharging patients in ADM which causes all current pyxis profile
orders to
drop from the system. Pharmacy then has to re-enter all current
orders.
This can be annoying at times. I noticed in the PHA Parameters on page
2 a
prompt for "# HRS DISPLAY DC ORDERS ACTIVE" and "# HRS UNDO FIX DC
RX's".How
are these used? Can we put a time in that would allow ADM to "fix"
their
mistake and not have orders drop from pyxis? Thanks Diane
Product Release: 5.4Has The Problem Been Reported Before: No
Donovan,Mark
Patrick (MEDITECH) - May 31, 2006 - 1258 EDT: Diane, these parameters
are
not going to help you out with this. The # HRS DISPLAY DC ORDERS
ACTIVE
parameter is there to determine how far back the system looks for
inactive
orders when processing Returns from Pyxis. We look at all active
orders and
based on this parameter the number of hours inactive. This gives the
nurse
a window after a med was DC'd to return a med that will cause a
Pharmacy
credit. This doesn't have any bearing on the Pyxis Profile and how
they
display their information. The next parameter only relates to the
UNDO'ing
of a Discharge. When ADM performs an UNDO of an admission, this will
standardly DC the Pharmacy orders. This causes them to drop of your
Pyxis
profile and we can not prevent this. If a patient is Discharged this
to
will DC the orders. However if in Admissions they UNDO the Discharge,
this
reverts the patient back to the ADM IN status and will FIX DC the
orders
that were DC'd on Discharge. The "# HRS UNDO FIX DCRX'S" parameter can
then
control how this works. If you set it to 2 hours and Admissions
performs
the Undo on the Discharge after 2 hours passed, then Pharmacy will not
fix
DC the orders. From your entry it looks like Pharmacy is Fix DC'ing
orders
after the patient is accidentally Discharged. This should be corrected
by
performing an UNDO Discharge in Admissions which then removes any
Pharmacy
involvement. So while these two parameters will not fix the Pyxis
Profile,
the process of how Admissions fixes the accident can make Pharmacy
react as
you are hoping. I hope this is all clear and makes sense. If it is
not,
please call me at781.774.2562 and we can walk through all these
scenarios.
Mark

Does anyone have information about what can be done to prevent the
UNDO
function from wiping out pyxis profiles, EMAR data and pharmacy
profiles.
The pharmacy currently has a parameter # HRS UNDO FIX DC RX'S set to
24
hours in the pharmacy toolbox parameters, but we still have had issues
losing the data in our pyxis stations and the EMAR. Has anyone
removed the
UNDO function or written a rule to notify the pharmacy when the UNDO
function has occurred? Any help would be appreciated.
thank you
