Our user mnemonic is "L" (for Lenoir...our hospital) and then the employee
number, which is 5 numbers. The employee number is unique and even if the
employee quits and then returns sometime later, they will always have that
number. It has worked out well. There is no chance for duplications. You
never have to figure out what to do with employees who have the same or similar
names. It is pretty straight forward what your userid is.

Our is the first 3 letters of the last name, with the first initial. If
there is a duplicate, we add letters until we have something unique. Mine is
pivm, for example. It is nice and SHORT!
