Mike,
If you don't mind, here are some follow up questions from our network
manager:

1. Which server did you turn NTP on from?
2. What type of Meditech OS are you running?
3. What hardware platform are you using for Meditech?

Thank you!
SK

Hello,

We were experiencing this issue and it was driving us nuts!

Here is what happened to resolve our issue according to our Server
Technician:

Sumter was having a problem with Meditech sessions just freezing and
either not coming back to life or taking up to 20 minutes to return to
usable state. Meditech had us go through a lot of testing for network
problems from the servers to the workstations, CPU and memory usage on
the background job servers and the PC's where the problem was
manifesting itself the worst. All monitored sessions came back with no
errors, no CPU or memory usage out of normal range. Our server logs were
free of errors and network traffic was also within normal ranges. During
this testing we turned on NTP (Network Time Protocol) because that was
the next step in our AD installation project. The problem of Meditech
lockups/freezeups disappeared.

Thanks,

Ken, if you mean is Meditech appearing to freeze? The answer is yes.
This happened with 5.4 and is getting worse with 5.5. We even upgraded
our OS as requested by Meditech.

We keep checking and CPU is up close to 100% when this happens.
Meditech checks and says a job is running causing this but they are
still working with us to get to the meat of it and find out what is
happening. We have had lots of DTS's patched in for fixes and nothing
has cured yet. It has been going on for so long now that people are
starting to get used to it.

Let us know if you find out anything from Meditech as you work with
them.

Thanks. Carol
