We have overflow beds set up for every inpatient nursing unit. They are not actual beds on the unit, but are pseudo-beds available in Meditech to place patients in temporarily. We have them set in the MIS Room dictionary as "overflow" location="Y" (Meditech documentation: "Enter Y if you want this room to be considered an overflow location. Overflow locations contain non-certified beds and are not included in the calculation of percent occupancy.")
