We are a C/S 5.4 SR3 site and have been experiencing an issue with duplicated cumulative lab reports generating for certain patient types. For example if a patient is in seen in the ER and is later admitted as an inpatient, that patient qualifies for both our Medical Records Inpatient and Outpatient reports. The result is duplicated reports generating and subsequently a laborious process of sorting the reports to ensure no duplication prior to placing the reports in the chart.
Our Lab Reports Dictionary is set as follows:
1) Medical Records Inpatient Reports a. We have the following patient statuses set for these reports: DIS IN, DIS INo DIS INx DIS INox) 2) Medical Records Outpatient Reports a. We have the patient status set for these reports as OUT
Since the Outpatient Reports are set to “OUT” the account qualifies for the outpatient reports and then qualifies for the inpatient reports when discharged from the inpatient stay. We could remove ER patients from the Outpatient reports by defining all outpatient statuses individually and leave out the DEP ER and REG ER, but we still need the reports to generate for the ER patients that are seen and released.
How have other addressed this issue? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Ed Andrews Palos Community Hospital
