I was looking at this ticket too and didn't see where this limit was defined
and how it could be removed. The strange thing is that other endpoints don't
have this 100 results limit and I didn't see any difference between the solr
configs.
Your workaround in the frontend probably solves this problem, but if this is a
general solr problem we should try to find a solution for this limitation in
the backend too.
