Hi, We discussed at the PO meeting how important load testing is and I think there was consensus that we should be doing more here. I'm going to start this off with a little internal working group to look at the issue from both the goal side of things as well as from the technology side of things. Persons we identified to be interested in this include myself, Olaf, and Adam, and I think we were looking at Matjaz, Akm, and perhaps others to help do the implementation.
I'd like to have a series of pretty targeted meetings so we're all on the same page and can get at least a solid direction for the end of this iteration. The problem is really broken up into three parts: 1. Why are we testing (and what are reasonable scenarios for our tests)? Here's a thread that outlines some of the thoughts on this: http://opencast.3480289.n2.nabble.com/Performance-Testing-tt5897605.html 2. What are we testing? Engage/Red5 is one big target. Processing is another one. All in one box is a good start. Individual services and capture agents are out of scope I think for the first part of this. 3. How are we going to test it? I welcome people with experience to step in here. As background I recommend (Adam, Matjaz?) looking at what OpenSTA provides for us (note, windows only!). Soak testing like jmeter exists for other platforms, but opensta is really *the* open source solution for this kind of testing. Home brew scripts are certainly an option. I'd like to arrange a meeting Thursday if possible but I realise it might be short notice. Either way, I'll propose thursday right after our team meeting for a 1/2 hour organizational meeting, then 2 meetings next week (we can discuss the time on thursday). If you're interested in this (Rudiger?) and would like to join up please do.
