First thing, don't use tabs in ASCII diagrams, they
won't look right on all platforms
Second, it wasn't very obvious what you were
trying to diagram:
Is this right:
Alpha
-----------------------
Eth1 Eth0
129/147.131.140 192.168.1.4
| (MASQ)
| |
Internet |
129.147.131.140 |
|
|
+---+-----------+--------+-----------------+
| |
Sun Classic |
IP: ??? |
|
Pentiun II
Eth0: 192.168.1.5
PLIP0: 192.168.2.1
|
|
Laptop
PLIP0: 192.168.2.2
If this is right, I'd recommend to directly
connect the laptop to the main Linux MASQ box.
This will make things MUCH easier. If this isn't
a possibility, you'll have to:
1) Set up a static route on the MASQ box
to point the 192.168.2.x network to
192.168.1.5
2) You'll need to enable IP forwarding on
the P-II
3) You'll need to enable a simple IPFWADM
or IPCHAINS rule to forward 192.168.2.x
traffic from the ETH0 to PLIP0 interfaces
4) You might also need to enable proxyarp on
the Pentium-II's PLIP0 interface.
