I agree with you Rik that ISDN is VERY expensive unless the lines
are billed at a flat rate.  Beyond that, frame T1s are getting cheaper
but they are still somewhat expensive.  Also, SMDS is dieing and will
become something of the past in only a few more years.  Now we have
DS3 based Frame Relay and ATM.
