Hello...

    I've been using IP Masquerading under RedHat Linux 5.1 for a few
weeks now and it's working great except for the old problem of
incoming connections to previously unused ports. Since I'm not
worried about security on my internal network, I was thinking
about using ipautofw for all ports above 1024.

    I've tried this, but no matter what I do I get the message "Protocol
not available." I'm getting the sinking feeling that this is because
the kernel is not compiled with something necessary for this
to work. Can anyone tell me if this is the case?

    I haven't installed the development packages and don't really
want to recompile my kernel if I can avoid it. I believe there
is a compilation option such as:

CONFIG_IP_MASQUERADE_IPAUTOFW=[y/n]

Can someone tell me what the default value is? (Yes/No)
And if it's No, is there another way I could accomplish
this?

Thanks!
DJ Graham J
