Are you running identd on the masq box? I guess that probably won't
help, because the masq'd connection won't be in the list of standard
socket connections.
That's the problem, you see. Your IRC connection appears to be coming
from the masq box, but when the IRC server asks the masq box about that
connection it has open, it doesn't know, because it's really a forwarded
connection.
Doubtless someone has solved this problem. But I don't do IRC, so it's
not important to me. :)

Autofw is something you should only compile in if you're going to run
the "ipautofw" command. Come to think of it, that might help if your PC
behind the masq box is running an identd. You might be able to forward
the identd request back to the originator. Maybe.
The defrag option is *always* a good idea, because forwarding of large
packets will break, otherwise.
