I'm running IP masq, and I havn't had a problem sending or receiving
incoming files or private chats with ICQ (except for non-IP masq related
problems, such as when ICQ servers are down, etc..). I've used no
special command with ipfwadm. Perhaps those who are having problems
have forgotten to setup ICQ? Remeber to goto ICQ/Preferences/Connection
and then do the following:
Click on "Using permanent connection (LAN)"
I am behind a firewall or proxy
Click the button that says "Firewall Settings"
Under Firewall Settings click "Don't use SOCKS Proxy server on
firewall, or using another proxy"
hit the "NEXT" button
click "Use dynamically allocated port numbers"
hit the "NEXT" button
you don't need to do the test if you don't want (I didn't...), so
just click on the "DONE" button,
and back at the preferences window click the "OK" button.
That's what I did, and everything works fine. I kind of wondered about
not being able to receive a
private incoming chat when I read the response to your message, so I
just went and tested it with a friend, and it worked fine. I had been
receiving files the day before, so I know that works. As well, I have
started chats with others, have had groups of people chatting , and have
sent files to others.
Have fun :)
