I think that old kernels like yours need a whole stack of patchs if you
look on http://www.tor.shaw.wave.ca/~ambrose/ for them and give it another
try.

I really would suggest an upgrade rh 5.2 has libc5 support in so if you
run the old binary which is linked agaist libc5.
