Thats pretty much the state of things.  Its a real pig of a protocol - and 
getting the specs for it is difficult to.

My feeling is that the protocol is not suitable for masq - there is too 
much interdependant state involved.  However I think that a user space 
proxy module written using the transparent proxy code and the newer API to 
fiddle masq tunnels on the fly from an app would make a reasonably 
efficient basis for a proxy - with the advantage that a programming error 
would not tend to take your machine out :-)
