It's not timing out form inactivity - it happens right in the middle of
downloading a large file or while loading a web page. Also, the same thing
happens on the Linux machine. If the other machine stops I try something on
the Linux machine and it's hosed too. Last night I was trying to ftp from my
Linux machine and as soon as I did a get it stopped working.

PS - I agree with using a script instead of putting it all in rc.local -
clean up is phase two.
