You only need to change BEGIN/END port ranges if internal hosts require more than 4096 connections. Just increase PORT_MASQ_MUL. May be it defaults to the number of internal hosts but don't set it to 3000. You can try to increase it in steps or your masq box can hang (out of memory) if each host creates 4096 connections :) So, try with default value (10) and change it when needed. cat /proc/net/ip_masquerade: Prc FromIP FPrt ToIP TPrt Masq Init-seq Delta PDelta Expires (free=40960,40960,40960) ...
