*Question: What are the consequences of the Trump-Putin rapprochement
for Ukraine’s war of national defence against Putin’s invasion?*
Answer: The Trump-Putin rapprochement opens a new phase in world
politics as it provokes a deep rupture in NATO – the U.S.-led alliance
which has dominated relations between Western imperialist powers since
1945. The most important consequence for the war is that the U.S. will
not only terminate (or massively reduce) its financial and military
support for Ukraine but also that it is pressuring Ukraine to agree to a
ceasefire under highly-favourable terms for Russia. Furthermore, Trump
wants to force Zelensky to sellout the country’s resources to U.S.
corporations.
