*Trump’s 2^nd Presidency: Its Causes, Inner Contradictions, and
Consequences for World Politics*

1.Trump’s second presidency represents a watershed both for American as
well as for world politics. It both reflects as well as accelerates the
long-term decline of U.S. imperialism and the erosion of its hegemonial
position. Such process has been manifested in the past two decades in
the decline of America’s position in global manufacturing, exports, top
corporations, etc. combined with massive increase of its debts. A
similar process has been taken place in other Western imperialist powers
like the EU, Britain or Japan. At the same time, China has become the
most important rising imperialist power challenging the U.S. while other
powers could also expand their influence (albeit to a lesser degree).
