I do perhaps - as a closure - add: 1) I checked with a social workers in the N.East who I had worked with for many years and she said this: "I’m not sure that Starmer is the issue here. The various child abuse scandals raised issues about girls not being heard because of being considered unreliable or worthless, misplaced anxiety about racism and upsetting communities, lack of curiosity, lack of communication, a culture that considers crimes against girls and women of lesser importance etc, etc. We have the Jay report, and what should happen is the implementation of its recommendations. Sadly it seems that what we’re doing now is dancing to Musk’s tune. Roll on the day when Trump falls out with him and he becomes yesterday’s man."
