Actually, in 2016 there were a lot of people on the left making that claim, based on the fact that the average Trump voter's income was higher than the average income of the average Clinton voter. That was a false use of statistics, partly because the overwhelming majority of black voters voted for Clinton, so that skewed the statistics. Also, in the U.S. income is not a good gauge of class.
Many socialists continued to make that claim, including Anthony Boynton in the group Ukraine Socialist Solidarity Campaign. He and a close comrade of his (whose name slips my mind) argued adamantly for that position a year or two ago within that group. I don't know if he now admits that he was wrong or not.
