The issue is not Tariq Ali. We have a whole wide layer of those on the "left" who in effect defend Assad, completely ignoring the mass terror he unleashed against the Syrian people. 100,00 or more tortured to death and these "leftists" ignore - meaning they justify it? I use the quotation marks advisedly, because if being on the left means anything it means horror and complete uncompromising opposition to that sort of thing. In the past, I discussed and debated with fellow workers who supported Trump, thought covid and global warming were hoaxes, etc. Their thought process is no different from those "lefts".

Back some time ago, when they carried that friendly interview with the Strasserist Sara Wagenknecht, I pointed out who she was and asked why NLR should be so friendly with her.
