*Theses on the War on Drugs in Mexico and the Tasks of Revolutionaries*

Drug trafficking seems to be one of the major problems facing all Latin American countries. Drugs reach the neighborhoods and the general population, causing the death of many young people, not so much from intoxication, but, above all, from the violence associated with drug trafficking. Given this scenario, the surveillance and security apparatus that the continent's governments use to supposedly combat this evil is increasingly larger. However, the war on drugs has been going on for many years, not only as a form of imperialist intervention from the United States, but also as a phenomenon that has caused the violent death of hundreds of thousands of people, and in which the links that public officials have with criminal groups are increasingly known. In this regard, the general population, including militants of Marxist organizations, are exposed to official reports that local, national and US security authorities give regarding how this war is taking place, which includes the name of the belligerent groups, their leaders, their areas of influence, and even many times extremely specific details about their personal lives, their accumulated fortunes, friendships and biographical backgrounds. However, despite all this information circulating in different media, for some reason these individuals are very elusive and it are extremely difficult for the State surveillance apparatus to catch them and dismantle their organizations.
