I think Sartesian makes some good points, but I also think James Cannon's ideas
about agitation, propaganda, and education can be applied with good effect to
this discussion. What should a Korean revolutionary be agitating for right now?
It depends on the historic moment including the level of organization and
ability to execute of the existing working class organizations. A general
strike? maybe. Formation of factory committees? maybe. What should the
revolutionary's propaganda be directed to? What needs to be done to accomplish
the political task facing the working class, whether or not it is up to the
task. Agitation and propaganda have to be closely related and clearly
delineated. Banner headlines calling for revolution when it is not a
possibility are the hallmark of the wishful thinking of irrelevant sects.
However, writing articles explaining why a revolution is needed, or how a
general strike could bring down Yoon or someone like him, i.e propaganda rather
than agitation, are not only a good idea, but necessary for the devolopment of
the vanguard of the working class.
