Hello Michael: You have accurately gauged my overall views. Thanks for assessing them on the basis of full reading rather than excavating for the fool's gold of highly selected quotes. Mind - I would have expected nothing less of you.
The problem I have seen - on this list before now - is that there is a ' this or that ' mentality when it comes to the Ukraine and Russia's invasion of a bordering national state in this instance - the Ukraine. Some focus only on the pretty reasonably documented pro-fascist elements within the Ukraine prior to the invasion and the very clever positioning of the USA-NATO to exploit tensions on the border states of Russia. They are indeed a spectrum that extends to 'campists'. [Someone should fully define this term]. Others only denounce the Russian imperialists. That is some leftists either feel wholly compelled to condemn Russia/Putin, while leaving the USA_NATO off any hook; or: They feel compelled to point the finger only at the USA-NATO encirclement, and make excuses for Russia. This has been a recurrent theme over the months since the invasion of Ukraine. Not only here on the list, but I believe more generally in left movements. On the list, apart from posting links to some articles, I have not interjected on the substantive issues - many others have as all on the list are aware. Actually recently, Marvin Gandall was placed into quite a ding-dong on this very issue by Charlie. At that point I believe that I did suggest some dialectical thought was required in this. For: The reality is that *both* the USA and Russia have long prepared the ground for Ukraine's war. And objectively the various imperialisms are bound to have collided on the European landmass - just as elsewhere the USA is bound to collide with China. At least in my view. In passing, it will seem bizarre to some, but I believe that Michael-RKOB states a consistent position on this that is fairly close to mine. My sources enabling me to throw aspersions on the USA in the background to Maidan - other than those standard newspaper and archival sources I have mentioned in my prior papers - is this following book. I have previously referenced it in articles: "Flashpoint in Ukraine - How the Drive for hegemony Risks WW 3"; Ed Stephen Lendman Clarity Press Georgia USA. (ISBN 978-0-9860731-4-4). This includes a number of authors with some decent data, at least in my view. They include Michael Hudson, James Petras, Michel Chossudovsky, Edward S.Herman. None of them to my knowledge are Marxist-Leninists; and certainly one of them ( Chossudovsky ) does indeed have a pro-Russian bent. That cannot be necessarily said of the others - at least as far as I am aware. The key thing for me - is that they show *data*. Maybe as the bourgeois John Adams said -"Facts are stubborn things". To deny any culpability within NATO-USA-Ukraine - is to be one-sided and to close eyes to the real dynamics. Ultimately this will lead to serious errors. At least, this is my view. be well, H -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
