Once again, Scott Ritter is a blowhard who either says nothing new or twists reality.
The Hamas raid triggered a number of varied responses, some of which were by design, such as luring the Israeli Defense Forces into Gaza, where they would become trapped in a forever war they could not win, triggering the dual Israeli doctrines governing military response to hostage taking of the “Hannibal Doctrine” and the Israeli practice of collective punishment, the “Dahiya Doctrine.” The IDF genocide in Gaza might last "forever," but it is not a war. It is slaughter and expulsion of an entire population. Hamas triggered the predictable sacrifice of "its own" people. As for Ritter's "war they cannot win," why doesn't he admit Hamas also cannot win a war? Ritter then moves from his military misconception to a grab bag of political musings, none of them both enlightening and true. The link between Ritter on Gaza and Ritter on Ukraine and everything else is his claim, "The era of American unilateralism is fading, rapidly being replaced by a multi-polarity with a center of gravity in Moscow, Beijing and New Delhi." U.S. relative power has indeed shrunk since well before Ukraine. Ritter's implication that there is a firm unity among three other powers is bunk. That is obvious between India and the other two. Beijing and Moscow have their contradictions, too. Besides, isn't it nonsense to speak of "a center of gravity in Moscow, Beijing and New Delhi"? A center of gravity is in one place, not three.
