Since the advent of Trump and, in reality, starting after 9/11, the liberal Democratic Party milieu have become "institutional boosters" of the State including and most notably members of the Dept. of Defense (Army, etc). As Trump has laid into the DoD the stronger liberals and Dems have been touting the military. I might add it did slip during Black Lives Matter when the "de-fund the police" slogan became all the rage, even if it didn't last very long.
