This is a perfect example of how Putin propaganda works, in this case with the ever-slimy Amy Goodman of "Democracy (Hypocrisy) Now": This is an interview with somebody from Human Rights Watch (HRW). They have just documented advancing Russian troops summarily executing Ukrainian soldiers trying to surrender. Goodman starts out by making sure to slip in that the Russians are advancing. In other words, just a little demoralization to be added. Then she adds a "peace (= surrender) now" piece of propaganda: "you have Xi meeting with Putin, and Xi presenting the peace plan and saying that — it looks like he wants to be a negotiator of that plan, that there must be peace in the region?" To which the HRW rep replies: "Absolutely. You know, we’ve come, unfortunately, to a moment in this full-scale invasion where Russia seems to have the upper hand, is pushing the frontline." Of course, it's Goodman who brought this out from him. She has to get in some material critical of Russia. Otherwise, she would be totally exposed for the Putin shill that she is undercover. That would make her ineffective. Then she ends with a "both sides are guilty" issue, criticizing the US and Russia equally and hitting on the cluster munitions issue. To emphasize: This is how Putin propaganda works. For some audiences a blatant approach works. For audiences like that of Hypocrisy Now, a more "balanced" and "both sides" approach is far more effective.
