Unlike Ford after Nixon, Biden would not be taking office with a Congress going for Trump's throat.
In this case, the Democrats simply have to not go after Trump. This is so easily done because it's a position they've pretty much taken since his inauguration. What was done on the emoluments? On buying office? On conflicts of interest? How about actually forcing compliance with the constitutional requirement of accountability? Even to the point of letting the White House censor government reports. The Justice Department under Barr is a fraud on the face of it. On the sabotage of those parts of the government that actually do something for the people? And that joke of an impeachment! You had the very people who consistently refused to move on impeachment become its strategists. The Democrats didn't do their jobs and why they didn't is evident in interview after interview. They want "voters to hold the president accountable" at the polls. When government refuses to stop lawbreakers and passes the buck to the electoral process, they've essentially given lie to the basic assumption of capitalist "democracy," that citizens get to have their appropriate input when they cast their ballot. Nobody's asking American voters to make decisions on health care, war and peace, etc.--or anything beyond law enforcement.
