The Icelandic Orca Project (www.icelandic-orcas.com) is an on-going
long-term research project dedicated to studying the killer whales that
occur in Icelandic waters. This catalogue is the result of dedicated
research by the Icelandic Orca Project since 2008 as well as kind
photograph donations from colleagues, whale-watching guides and
naturalists, and members of the public since 2006 and includes
individuals identified in Vestmannaeyjar, Faxaflói, Snæfellsnes and
Skjálfandi bay. It aims to provide an overview of individual killer
whales found in Icelandic coastal waters in recent years, as well as an
overview of current information about the biology and behaviour of this
population.
