Two research assistants are needed for fieldwork at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) station in Bocas del Toro, Panamá.
DATES: 06/24 - 07/31 Volunteers will be assisting two Master students with boat-based observations and acoustic data analysis of a bottlenose dolphin population in Bocas del Toro, Panamá. Fieldwork is going to be intense involving long hours in a small boat and under extremely sunny and warm conditions. Volunteers are responsible of their own traveling and accommodations expenses at the STRI station. We do not require any previous experience with dolphins and experience in acoustics analysis is considered a plus, but once again it is not required as long as you are willing to learn. Volunteers are expected to be able to communicate well in English or Spanish (preferably both). Local undergraduate students from Panamá are strongly encouraged to participate. A positive attitude is a must! If interested, please send a message explaining why you would like to participate with an attached resume or CV to [email protected]. -- Shakira G. Quiñones Lebrón M.S.
