MUST BE RECEIVED BY MARCH 11, 2006 The The staff veterinarian is responsible for the clinical care of marine
mammals in rehabilitation. The candidate supervises and trains veterinary
technicians and visiting students in anesthesia, radiology, sample collection
and processing, drug administration, record keeping and animal husbandry. In
addition to clinical care, the staff veterinarian must have the knowledge,
interest, and ability to collaborate effectively with researchers, and conservation
and education staff. He/she must be able to communicate effectively before
large and small gatherings, and work successfully on multidisciplinary teams to
advance the mission of The Center. Requires supervisory and budget management experience; 5 years
experience in clinical marine mammal veterinary medicine; knowledge of current
marine mammal health and disease issues demonstrated through a publication and
presentation record; a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent and
a higher degree (Masters, Doctorate, or Board Certification); and must have a
current California State License to practice veterinary medicine. Salary will be based on education and experience. To apply: mail
