Are these the set of photos from FOSDEM 2013 that were passed on to me a short while ago? I had just assumed that permission had been granted and was going to look at including them (except a couple that are probably not suitable) on the FOSDEM wiki page[1] as well as the donate webpage "photo shuffler".
So, I'd do this as practical as possible. What I usually do when publishing pictures is to check if there's some ugly position that makes someone look silly. If you have group picture where the individual is not especially outlined, you can publish it. If you have a picture of an individual, it's good practice to simply ask them.
So, for example: For the FOSDEM booth, publishing a picture of the booth with people is no problem, but if you outline one individual with an individual picture, you should either know they are comfortable with it, or just ask.
No need for a formal approval like we did with the videos, but asking people is a good thing.
It mostly depends on gut feeling and some common sense what to do. :-) I just want to avoid that we publish pictures without having checked them first.
