A new question has been posted to the Knowledgebase: http://kb.askmonty.org/en/stopstart-mariadb --------------------------------------------------------------------- When upgrading MariaDb, using DEB package manager,it always fails to stop the server and the upgrade fails. Also the server cannot be stopped from MySQl Workbench. However, I can stop ok from the terminal with the command 'sudo service mysql stop' and then run the update which restarts the server automatically. Not fatal but puzzling. (Using Ubuntu Natty 64 bit). ---------------------------------------------------------------------
