I've found this thread a little amusing in that we spend so much time railing against the power held by so few major mail providers, yet are so quick to recommend people to the big players.

Their power is rooted in how well they meet the market where it is.

I would like the inbox providers I work for to get many more inbox customers, even if it's only a pile of one-user domains. I cannot in good faith tell a potential customer that they will be happier with a small provider (even one I work for) than they would be with a faceless behemoth. I wish that were true, I work pretty hard to make it true (esp. with my primary employer,) but I know from also playing the admin role for migrated customers now on M365 that it is very hard to get small businesses to care about what we can do better more than they care about what MS does better.

As Michael said, I think most non-technical small businesses *SHOULD* care more about having a human to call for support. In fact, they care more about never needing to call anyone for support, although some of that is due to reduced expectations. Freemail has done an excellent job of making end users expect minimal value in email service.
