Oh, I agree, it's not going away and it usually doesn't hurt (much). In the past I have done surveys of mail servers to see what features they have, such as 8BITMIME (all of them now) and SMTPUTF8 (not many other than Gmail and MS.) The question is whether it's also worth testing the lower priority MX. My position is no, since the vast majority of mail, at least non-spam mail, goes through the highest priority ones.
