In that case, they should stop using the term "email" for the first case and
call it some other name, to avoid confusions and mistakes among users.

It should be clear for everybody that the "email" Google, Microsft and
Facebook will eventually use is something different from "email" the rest of
the world uses (and that perhaps maybe there is no communication at all
between these two?)
