Hi there,

I'm crossposting this message to mailing lists that I feel can provide informed feedback. Please accept my apologies if you're seeing this message more than once.

I wanted to compare experiences with others regarding contacting domain owners via the registrant data in their whois records, particularly in cases where domain privacy services are being used.

In my past experience, dealing mainly with routing abuse complaints, the response rate was wildly variable but generally usable regardless of the use of domain privacy services -- that is, the response rate among both was always within a 2% of each other.

My particular interest centers around how those privacy services handle inbound email to the real contacts, whether they'll forward, discard or block the email. Do you have experiences in this regard that you can share?

Best regards

-lem
