We are a small ESP, too. Our evasive maneuvers consist of setting the
visible From address to one from our own domain, and setting reply-to to
the original customer's address. This works just splendidly. We do notify
the customers and so far they've tended to switch to using their own
domains. The notification is all automatic in our UI.

I suppose that's harder to do when most of your customers are accessing
your service via an API.
