This happens on many mailing lists occasionally (even on 
professionally-operated mailing list hosts). The answer is to tolerate it 
occasionally, and to ramp up problem solving on this issue if it becomes 
more persistent.

Not everything on the internet works perfectly all the time. That's just 
the way things are. There are so many possibilities for failure.
