I know there are longstanding glitches in the viewer window column layout: it
occasionally forgets what's supposed to be the default and shows up in some
other way, and I have to manually re-select the columns I want, un-select the
ones I don't, and arrange them as I want them. This has been a minor annoyance
every few months or so for years, no biggie.

But ever since I briefly enabled the experimental "Standard Single Column",
it's constant. Virtually every time I change from my inbox to look at a
different mailbox and then change back, the inbox, which looked right a moment
ago, has changed to displaying the Standard Single Column again and dropped the
columns I want. I reset everything and choose "Set as Default Columns," but to
no avail -- the next time I go look at a different mailbox and then return to
the inbox, it's happened again.

I've tried setting the inbox columns the way I want them, choosing "Set as
Default Columns" again, and then opening a new viewer window; the new window
appears with no mailbox selected but the correct (default) columns displayed,
but the moment I click the inbox to display it, the columns shift to Standard
Single Column again. If I click any other mailbox, they appear as they should
for that mailbox; it's only the inbox that absolutely insists on showing as
Standard Single Column every chance it gets. As far as I remember, I tested
that layout only in the inbox.

This has become more than a minor annoyance. Is there any way to fix or at
least ameliorate it? I truly don't mind it happening now and then -- I mean,
obviously "never happens" is better than "rarely happens," but "rarely happens"
is fine -- but "happens every ten minutes" is a lot.

If not, I'll try to train myself to always open a new viewer window to look at
a non-inbox mailbox, I guess, so that the existing inbox column layout isn't
disturbed...

Thanks!
