Create a new folder (“IMAP Mailbox”) by right-clicking on the desired parent folder, then drag other folders into it.

Thanks Glenn, but I want the new folder sitting on the top level, so doesn’t really have a parent folder.

How do I do that?

For an “IMAP Mailbox” (server-side folder), at a minimum it has to be a child of the “Source”, so you can right-click on the server name at the top of the Sources list.

Alternatively, you can create a new “Smart Mailbox” by right-clicking anywhere, then dragging the resulting folder up to the top level. While dragging, look for a horizontal bar with a dot on one end, sitting between two folder names. This is your dragging target indicator, and no other folders should be highlighted.

For a smart folder that will just hold other sub-folders, you can then clear all of the rules initially inserted by MailMate on creation.
