FastMail is a third party provider of IMAP email accounts. They have a very good, fast, and reliable IMAP implementation. Much better than what is offered by Yahoo, Microsoft, Apple, Google, etc.
FastMail also provides a webmail email client (like Gmail). This could be a replacement for MailMate if it has the features you need -- or it can be a supplement, e.g., when you need access to your emails (using a browser) without having access to one of your own devices.
