Ah, I think you need to first enable send later as a default:
defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmSendMessageDelayEnabled -bool YES

Thanks. I tried this one. Did not work. I restarted MailMate. No
effect. I quitted Mailmate, applied the defaults write line, started
MM and tested it again. Nope. Does not work.
I tested the Send Later option in the composer. This one did work.
