As I understand it, they are mostly an IMAP hack and break many many

mails with them.
I'm curious how you guys deal with gmail, no labels **at all** ?
I don't use them myself, but I've attempted to work around this issue by
optionally mapping Gmail labels to MailMate tags (IMAP keywords). Read
more about that
[here](http://blog.freron.com/2013/mavericks-gmail-apple-mail-and-mailmate/).
I think in some cases it is best to relaunch MailMate after changing
Gmail label mappings.
It's a tricky problem and I've seen some weird server behavior when
trying to deal with it (well, mostly when dealing with “All Mail”).
I'll get back to it eventually, but it's always a bit frustrating to
work on workarounds only necessary because of an undocumented
intentionally non-standard “IMAP” server :-)
