As new emails are added at the bottom or in the middle of a thread (
threaded view ), I always ⌥ click to check the thread.
So maybe other users make the same „move” and I think that such a
feature might be a useful addition ( or standard behaviour ) to MM.

No, that is not configurable. The easiest is to use the previously
stated tip:
Also, holding down ⌥ when clicking an arrow or using the right
arrow key will expand the selected thread.
